Boiler fodder
Works great. I split a half cord in no time. The only problem was a twisted piece that would not split, but it was a bit LARGE!
A good bargain to feed my outdoor boiler.

It works, but when it dies I'm buying American
Well, when you spend this kind of money for a log splitter, you shouldn't have great expectations...and I didn't. The system this splitter uses for actuating the ram is very inconvenient. You have to reach over and hold down a button then use the other hand to actuate a lever and hold both of them until the splitting cycle (which is VERY slow) is over.
Having said that, if you have a lot of wood to split (or re-split in my case) it's a real pain. I have since hooked up a foot switch for the motor and use a clamp to hold down the button to actuate the motor. Now instead of reaching around to the back of the machine, I just step on the foot switch. Works like a charm.
The unit is quite powerful and I haven't found too many chunks that it can't deal with. Obviously there are some knotted or twisted logs that it chokes on, but all in all I'm happy with the power. The other big issue I have with this machine is that you really can't use it below 40 degrees F. Kind of a big problem if you live in the North.
I have to wrap it with an electric blanket if it's cold out so I try to get all of my splitting and kindling up before the temp drops in the fall. When this dies (and it will), I'm buying an American machine. I've had it with this Chinese garbage.
LSD RESPONDS: The two-handed system was designed specifically as a safety measure, so you can't get your hand caught in the ram. This keeps the user safe, and keeps Earthquake from being sued out of existence. Please be aware that you may have voided your warranty by circumventing it, as well as exposing yourself to the possibility of injury!
This model is clearly labeled as a "Mini Log Splitter" and is recommended for light duty splitting. The whole point of an electric log splitter is that you can work indoors, where it's warm- a good idea, especially in the North.
We do carry American made, electric log splitters by Ramsplitter. They are powerful, a good deal faster, and also more expensive. The foreign made, less expensive brands we carry are from reputable companies that will honor their factory warranties. We try to present the best merchandise available for the prices folks are willing to pay.

A LOT LESS WORK
It took about 5 days for my log splitter to arrive. I put it together and started to use it, and I split a quarter cord of wood in no time.
It does has its limitations though- it won't split wet wood. The craftsmanship leaves something to be desired, though. You can tell where the two metals meet on the splitting wedge, no telling how long it will last.
But it did cut my work time in less than half. Some logs I have to split myself, and then use the splitter.
I should have got the next size up though, but I'm glad I got it and so is my back.
