Q: Hi Mike, I am trying to decide what size log splitter to buy. I like a log splitter that has the catch arms. The other question I have is about the tonage, how do you decide what tonage you need if you do not know what size logs you are going to have? I split logs occasionally, not everyday. A: Our Champion 22 to splitter has catch arms. Will will not have a splitter that will be high speed capable. The limit is 45mph. A 20 ton splitter is great for logs 24" or less. Pretty much can do whatever you need. by Mike, Product Expert
This is a great choice if you have some wood to split, and need to go out in the woods to get it.
It has a pin hitch so you can use your ATV or lawn tractor to haul the splitter and a wood trailer in the same trip, saving you bunches of time.
You can take care of smaller logs in the horizontal position at a comfortable height.

Honda makes this log splitter work well
The 20 ton log splitter is a great unit. It was delivered on time but the box it came in was damaged. I inspected the unit and found it ok.
The splitter it very heavey so you will need help in moving it to the area where you will be putting it together. I used a power lift to assist me in putting it together. It took me 3 hours.
The unit works great. I have split 3 cores of red oak without trouble. The wood was full of knots and over 50 inches in diameter. It slowed down a few times but never stopped.
I'm very happy.

i hurt my shoulder 2 days before this splitter arrived so i was with out an arm and my son help me put it together "simple enough" after it was together i just had to try
well i split at least a dozen logs by my self Easy to work Easy to start Easy to load great machine......

I'm one of those guys who love to research power tools and equipment.. I've benn looking for months for a "bang for the buck" log splitter. I ended up buying this bad as# machine. Been using it for well over a year now and have only one complaint, I need more wood !!
There hasen't been one time when this thing has jammed, stalled, lacked power to split anything I threw at it. And I hate to say it, I'm rather absusive on my tools. I work them, and work them hard.. If they crap out, you will hear about it..
I assembled it my self in my barn with the assistance of a floor jack, no problem.. I would not hesitate to tell my friends that I am very satisfied and suggest this splitter..

I have been listening to my husband complain for several years now about wanting a log splitter, so this year I surprised him early and got him one.
Except for putting it all together, he likes it very much. He likes how it splits going back and forth. He likes the Honda motor. And he says, "It is a splitting sucker!" Ha!
He says the only thing that would have made it a better product, would have been to let it split horizontally too for the huge pieces of wood that are too heavy for him to lift because he has a bad arm. Thank you very much!

Built like a tank
Arrived on time. Very well packaged. Good instructions made for easy setup.
Heavy, so two people to handle the setup is recommended. Built like a tank. Have used it for about 3 hours. No leaks.
Works like a champ.

GNE model 11571
I recently purchased the GNE model 11571 through log splitters Direct and I must say that I am very pleased with the whole process.
The thing I like most about the model 11571 is that it splits both ways which increases your efficiency 100 %. Having the honda engine to me is also a great plus.
I have used other splitters that split only one way and they seem obsolete to me now.
The only negative thing is the assembly can be somewhat difficult placing the beam onto the wheel base as it is quite heavy and I would recommend that two people are there to help for saftey reasons.Other than that it not that hard.
