Easy To Work With In Horizontal Or Vertical Mode •Horizontal for smaller logs you don't mind lifting •Vertical for the big logs- just roll them into place
Quiet And Efficient 1.5 HP Electric High Torque Motor •No more oil changes, just plug in and start splitting •20 amp circuit breaker is recommended; pulls 18 amps •Equivalent to an 8 HP gasoline engine
2 Stage Barnes Pump Ships Without Hydraulic Oil •Quicker 10 to 14 second cycle time
16 Tons Of Ram Force •High torque without the mess and trips to the gas station •Steel wedge can be sharpened with a steel grinder
3 1/2 Inch Cylinder •Detented return control valve locks into reverse •Returns to start position after cylinder is retracted
Tow With Your Garden Tractor Or ATV •Comes with a pin hitch •13" pneumatic tires handle tough terrain
If you'd like the convenience of an electric log splitter but have some really large logs to split, this unit is a step up from our "Good" choice.
Instead of trying to lift large chunks of wood up to waist height, you can pull the pin on the splitter beam and secure it in the vertical position.
Then just roll that big hunk of wood into position and split it into more manageable pieces quickly and easily, with much less stress and strain.

Disappointment
I ordered a Ramsplitter HV16-4 because it was made in the USA, and while it is heavy duty and does all that we wanted it for, I was a little disappointed to find that the components used on this log splitter are from China. If I had wanted a log splitter from China, I could have gotten one a lot cheaper.
LSD RESPONDS: Ramsplitter log splitters are hand built, one at a time by a small local US company- that's why they are so durable and perform so well.
The components are individually selected for quality and performance, as well as a reasonable price. This means that some of them may come from overseas, but the Ramsplitter folks make sure they are consistently well built or they won't use them.
To use small engines & hydraulic pumps made entirely in the US would unfortunately make the splitters so expensive no one would buy them.

Splitting Wood the Quiet Way.
Despite the directions being somewhat misleading on the amount of hydraulic fluid to add at start up (it only takes a little under 3 gallons as opposed to the directions stating 3-3 1/2) and after having had to clean up an overflow situation (that took a lot of kitty litter and about a week to finally settle down) I love the splitter.
My kids and I assembled it with ease and were splitting wood in a matter of minutes. Works great in both the horizontal and vertical positions.
It is easy to move and has the guts to split 24in to 30in diameter behemoths.
Above all else, it is QUIET. Unlike my noisy gas splitter, short of wathcing my wood pile grow, my neighbors do not even know I am splitting.

What A Pleasure!
I'm a 60+ woman who has split my own wood for 40 years. This is going to make it possible for me to continue to heat my house with wood for many years to come, and I thank you.
This electric splitter is quiet, smooth & easy to use. The vertical option is perfect for my giant oak logs. And the price at Log Splitters Direct was the best.
I would have liked the option of buying a trailer dolly and hitch accessories since I am having trouble finding a ball coupler that will fit this model. It's a heavy piece of equipment to move around.
The directions for assembly were for a gas-powered engine. There should be separate instructions for this electric model which are more detailed.
Otherwise, I couldn't be happier.

I am enjoying my log splitter, it sure saves me a lot of energy. It split the wood with amazement.
I'm glad we got it, but Miss Jo Anne doesn't use it- lol. But I do and it works well...this is Daniel but she does a good job watching... Thank you all very much.

Works better than I expexted
I've had it for a week and have been splitting 3 cords. It works better than I expected.
I really think this was a great long term investment. Great choice.

H-16 E-Power
I burn all winter with a wood stove in a residential home.
In the past I'd rent a 8hp (Honda) gas splitter and try to split all the wood I'd collected in 1 weekend.
This season I decided to bite the bullet and buy a splitter. Being on a budget I considered a PTO driven unit for my Kubota BX or going with one of the local Big Box Store gas units.
Then I found Ramsplitter while web surfing. I called & personally talked with the owner regarding power and cycle time speeds, ruling out the PTO unit (too slow) and decided to go with the 16 Ton electric splitter.
Although this unit isn't as beefy as the Big Box Store gas units it can really split the wood. It never complains- runs all day long without a sip of gas or oil.
Ramsplitter is designed, manufactured and assembled in the USA, and is of very high quality. Cycle times are very comparable to the Honda I was renting, and the versatility of splitting horizontal or vertical really comes in handy with larger diameter logs.
My H-16 came with a 1.5 hp electric motor for ease of use with dedicated 20 Amp power source. Ramsplitter claims it puts out the same force as the 2 HP motor but uses less power to run.
With the 2HP motor Ramsplitter highly recommends a dedicated 30 Amp power source. The best thing is the low noise level. It just hums along, no more exhaust fumes and I can listen to game while splitting!
Also, the convenience of small packaging makes it easier to store than the large gas units. It requires little to no maintanance, and is easily pulled by me or my lawn tractor.
It's a great little splitter for heavy residential use. I've got 10 face cords of hardwood ready to burn- now what happened to our winter?
