I've had it for a week and have been splitting 3 cords. It works better than I expected.
I really think this was a great long term investment. Great choice. |

| How to Pick the Perfect Electric Log Splitter |
| By Kriss Schrader, Product Expert (Bolingbrook, IL) |
A common misconception with log splitters is that gas powered is much better than electric powered. Not true- there are a lot of advantages to having an electric splitter instead of a gas unit.
The first, for all the"green" folks out there, is that there are no emissions given off by an electric model. This lets the user be eco-friendly and get the job done.
A good thing to keep in mind are the new emissions laws. They are getting more stringent every day, so if you live in California an electric splitter may be your only option.
Second, less maintenance is required with an electric unit as opposed to a gas one. You can just plug in an electric log splitter and start working right away.
The third is you don't always have to lose splitting force when it comes to electric motors. Take the 16-ton Ramsplitter, for instance. This unit handles the same rigors a gas unit does and has the same splitting capacity.
Finally, the last reason why an electric splitter can be just as good- or even better than- a gas unit is the fact that there is much less noise given off by an electric splitter.
This is healthier for you, your neighbors, and any livestock in the area.
With those four factors alone, buying an electric log splitter can be just as effective as buying a gas powered unit. |

| H-16 E-Power |
| By Ken (Romeo, MI) |
I burn all winter with a wood stove in a residential home.
In the past I'd rent a 8hp (Honda) gas splitter and try to split all the wood I'd collected in 1 weekend.
This season I decided to bite the bullet and buy a splitter. Being on a budget I considered a PTO driven unit for my Kubota BX or going with one of the local Big Box Store gas units.
Then I found Ramsplitter while web surfing. I called & personally talked with the owner regarding power and cycle time speeds, ruling out the PTO unit (too slow) and decided to go with the 16 Ton electric splitter.
Although this unit isn't as beefy as the Big Box Store gas units it can really split the wood. It never complains- runs all day long without a sip of gas or oil.
Ramsplitter is designed, manufactured and assembled in the USA, and is of very high quality. Cycle times are very comparable to the Honda I was renting, and the versatility of splitting horizontal or vertical really comes in handy with larger diameter logs.
My H-16 came with a 1.5 hp electric motor for ease of use with dedicated 20 Amp power source. Ramsplitter claims it puts out the same force as the 2 HP motor but uses less power to run.
With the 2HP motor Ramsplitter highly recommends a dedicated 30 Amp power source. The best thing is the low noise level. It just hums along, no more exhaust fumes and I can listen to game while splitting!
Also, the convenience of small packaging makes it easier to store than the large gas units. It requires little to no maintanance, and is easily pulled by me or my lawn tractor.
It's a great little splitter for heavy residential use. I've got 10 face cords of hardwood ready to burn- now what happened to our winter? |
