Glad I Found Ls Direct And This Splitter
This splitter is a hoss. Much better than others I have used. It is heavy and made well. One improvement would be to put a crank on the tongue stand. With my tractor lift it isn't an issue but picking it up and leveling it without help with the pin stand would be tricky.

I have not used it a lot as the weather has been very wet since I got it running but the test runs are impressive. Have split some large knotty oak and hickory with ease. I chose the cuts that could not be done by... more

Great Log Splitter
Bought it to split some serious wood. Mostly red and white oak. This does the job with no problem, no doubt the machine for the job from experience this past year. No problems starting no matter hot or cold conditions.

Put it together in one hour by myself no problem. One thing I would change is the hydraulic hose location. When you pull through the woods must be careful not to snag the hose on small trees or stumps. Hose will pull off and drain oil. I will do a modification to cage the... more

Unstopable Machine
Well it took me a little longer to get it together than I thought, about 4 hrs and that was without liquid refreshments. It can easily be a one man job which it was in this case. Do not deviate from the instructions. The one part I found lacking was where to connect the hoses but it wasn't to hard to figure out.
I ended up using the splitter the next day. I ran about a cord and a half of some of the worst logs that I have split in 30 years of burning wood. The log splitter slowed down on... more

Little Things That Make Life Easy
Monday the 18th I get a call from the trucking company asking if I was going to be home and if it would be okay to deliver the log splitter, otherwise it would be Wednesday before it could be delivered. So of course I said if it's not too much trouble bring it now. We get it unloaded and it's now sitting in the driveway in front of the garage. I would have been content to let it sit till the next morning but my son-in-law, bless his heart, wants to put it together now. So we do just that. Oddly... more

Champion Log Splitter
The splitter is heavy but it was easy to assemble, it took about 45 minutes. I put fluids in and then split about 2 cords from large logs.

This is a big log splitter, I have the room to store it. I wish it came with a Honda Engine, but the Champion started and ran perfectly- no trouble at all so far, this is one good looking log splitter.

It comes with large tires, fenders, and a log cradle at no extra charge.

Looking For A Logsplitter
I decided on this log splitter by Champion by comparing 2 other top models. I decided on this one because of the features it offered. Size of the splitter head, speed, power of engine, and guards for the most part. While waiting for shipment to arrive: It shipped the next day. It went by rail surprising to me. Took about a week to get to me. It was delivered by a truck that had a lift gate and pallet jack. Pallet jack didn't roll very well in the dirt so be aware of that. I put it together by... more

Champion Motor
This is a very hard to start motor. It sometimes feels like it is seizing up and it is brand new and has only a few minutes on it. I am worried there is something wrong but if you finally get it started it works great.

Up To The Job
My 35-ton Champion arrived in good condition. We began unpacking and then assembly. Everything was in good order until I tried to put the wheel on. The instructions said it slips on but the bearing was resisting on both wheels and I did not want to beat it on with a hammer. This was Saturday and neither Champion nor Log Splitters Direct had any tech support available.

I tried the other axle and it went on. Found a slight scar on the underside of the axle which I smoothed down with 150... more

The log splitter runs great and motor starts easily with just 2 -3 pulls. There are a few issue with this machine, first make sure you check the oil filter before filling the hydraulic tank. My filter was defective and blew the top right off of and pumping about 4 gallons of oil out. The second issue is the Teflon pipe tape, not good with hot hydraulic oil at high pressures.

I recommend replacing with a high grade pipe dope rated at 6,000 psi compatible with high temperature oil. Also the... more

Friends Keep Asking To Borrow My Splitter
I live on a few acres of land attached to a state forest, I have everything from 80ft , five foot diameter pine, thick grey birch, massive American elm and old oak trees and this splitter just keeps going and going. I have used this splitter with fresh cut elm and oak and they didn't stand a chance.

I split about 20 cords a year and have not had any issues. I follow the regular maintenance schedule of changing the oils every season and keeping the unit covered during inclement weather,... more

Thirty-two Inch Diameter Logs: No Problem
The Champion 35-ton splitter is a boss machine. I ordered it after falling heir to a 16-foot, 32-inch red oak trunk and a hard maple log about the same size. Both needed processing into stove wood. Splitter arrived within ten days. The assembly instructions were clear except for two pages that suddenly turned to Spanish because of a stapling error.

Took me about six hours working alone with a come-along slung from my garage rafters (for the heavy lifting) to bolt everything together. Wheel... more

Ped--good Service--delivery Service Not So Good
Everything went smooth except for truck line delivery. The shipping crate had been relocated on the pallet .All looked good as far as damage. There was an opening in the floor of the crate. Some parts had fallen out during shipment. I was able to make them myself and buy hardware locally. After the assembly was complete, it worked as expected.

Great Splitter!
This thing is a real Beast! It will split whatever I put in it. The engine and hydraulics are top notch. I'm not a big fan of the tongue jack or the way the axles are mounted to the tank ... but over all this was the best splitter for the money for sure!
Pros: Durable, Price, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Axles Mounted To Tank, Tongue Jack
