I split about 12 cords of dry quackie wood, some people call it poplar. The wood was dead standing dry. Most of it was large- 16 to 25 inches round.
The only problem I had is if the splitter isn't quite level it will not split you need more oil or get it more level. The plastic pull handle broke so I will make a steel handle. It runs on a 15 amp breaker but a 7 ton would be better for me cuz I like the big logs, they load and fill the truck faster. Then the splitter does the rest.
I like the fast return. you don't have to wait around. I think it has a 10 second cycle forward. I like this machine a lot. I lift it onto the tailgate and go.
It's quiet but I wear ear plugs anyway. I Would recommend this splitter for light duty work. If it won't split it goes into bypass and pretty much stops the motor. 7 ton would be nicer but you would need a 20 amp breaker plug in.
