4 way wedge
It in concept is great but when the wedge hits knots it causes the unit to twist and brake. They need a stronger band around the back to hold the wedge to the ram. This is my second one. the first one lasted longer than this one. I have sent one back to be repaired so hopefully thet can make it work. When it was in operation it cut the time in half so hopefully they can get it back to peak operation.

61 years old- don't wait
now i like making firewood again. this is a great machine i split 16-18 inch . oak logs.
if i had it to do over i would not have waited.
my wife always wanted me to split it smaller now thats not a problem.

Very good machine for the money and my pocketbook, only thing is when in horizonal position the logs roll off and hit the motor.

It is awesome! Fired right up, didn't belch a bit. Naturally tried all the big knotted logs first to see if it was impressive.
It was, It laughed at what ever we through at it and before long we had two cords of wood split!
Great product, no need for anything bigger. Towed it home and around the yard using the ATV, looking forward to splitting some more wood.
Stop reading and just go buy it, you'll be set!

So Far -- So Good -- So Great!
Wednesday, Aug. 31. 2011 was the first time I used my new Troy-Built Log Splitter and to say the least - we were very satisfied with the performance of the machine.
We were splitting 24" red and white oak logs that exceeded 24" in diameter. The Splitter handled these pieces easily. It started on the very first pull and ran smoothly.
We were glad we made the decision to buy this Splitter from Log Splitters Direct. You see -- I'm physically challenged
(legs) but you'd have never known it by the wood that was split. Thanks for a great product!

good splitter
bought the troybilt 27 ton splitter earlier in the summer, have split a whole lot of wood with no problems.
I haven't put anything on it that it will not split!
